RIE Classes are a special opportunity for parents and their infants to come together once a week in a calming environment, where infants are allowed to unfold in their own way, and at their own pace. RIE® Parent-Infant Guidance™ classes are based on Magda Gerber's Educaring® Approach. In these classes, parents will learn the basic principles of the approach, and how to incorporate the principles into their parenting. Some of the principles include:
- Including the child in all aspects of caregiving to encourage the infant to be an active participant versus a passive recipient.
- Time for uninterrupted play.
- Establishing clearly defined limits and expectations to encourage discipline.
- Creating an environment that is physically safe, cognitively challenging, and emotionally nurturing. (RIE Manual)
Classes are a wonderful way to meet and connect with other local families that share in a similar parenting style. They are designed for children between 3-24 months of age.
9:30am - 10:45am: Toddlers (approx. 16-22 months of age)
11:15am - 12:30pm: Infants (approx. 10-15 months of age)
